We had a chat with Erik Setzman from the club Kimstad Sportfiske
about their experience with Cardskipper. Here’s what he had to say.

How did you get in contact with Cardskipper?
I’ve used the service before through the Swedish Ice Hockey Association.

What were your needs when considering a new system?
We needed an easy-to-use digital membership management system that could help us reach out to members. It was also important that the system included an automatic payment solution to reduce admin.

How have you been working with Cardskipper?
We use two different types of memberships: one for members who sign up and renew for the upcoming season and another for guest anglers. We also use the event management feature to handle different activities and events at the club—clean-up and dock maintenance days, competitions, etc. It’s really convenient to get an overview of who has signed up.

How did you handle payments before?
We used to send letters with payment information for bank giro accounts. The treasurer had to manually review all incoming payments and verify them. Now, everything is automated in Cardskipper. We can see all incoming orders and export summaries of completed payments.

What kind of members/users do you have?
We have annual memberships for individuals and family memberships for entire families. We also have one-day memberships for individual visitors.

How do you use the communication platform?
We send out invitations to the annual meeting and other gatherings. We’ve uploaded information about fishing rules, board recruitment and offers with discounts on fishing gear, etc. We also use the reminder feature to prompt members to renew their membership as the season comes to an end.

Looking ahead — what are the biggest challenges for your club? Any growth potential?
Our biggest challenge is getting active members who actually engage with information and events. Moving forward, we plan to send out personalised offers based on member type and interests.

If you were to recommend Cardskipper to another organisation or club, what would you say is the biggest advantage of using the service?

The ease of reaching all members quickly and easily, automatic membership renewal, the ability to send out mass messages, and the simplicity of tracking how many sign-ups you have for different events and activities.
